Further ReadingHere I intend to list articles that I find of importance and interest in terms of approaching long distance training and racing as well as discussing training approaches both on the mental and technical side.
Swim Smooth: The Swim Techniques and Approach designed by Paul Newsome and Adam Young at Swim Smooth. British Triathlon have appointed Swim Smooth as Coach Education Consultants. Their Swim Types system is very useful on identifying individualities of swimmers and it makes it easier to improve their swim technique. I use the techniques described by Swim Smooth in their videos and on their website in my coaching.
The longest road: A good article on TriRadar looking at training and racing Ironman from a number of angles including the importance of the bike, the mental approach with input from Chrissie Wellington, Tim Piggott (Performance Clinic) and Kim Ingleby (Energised Performance).
Blister Prevention: Short article on blister prevention from Rebecca Rushton on Kinetic Revolution which suggest that the reasons for blisters are not the ones we generally believe they are.
How to Fix your Gut: Detailed article by Ben Greenfield highlighting what may cause gut issues in races and how to sort these out and prevent them happening in future.
